Hello Calvary Olympia Family,
We arrived safely back to the US on August 26. All our flights to Houston were cancelled because of the hurricane so we had to reroute our flight through Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. We felt like we were going around one hurricane and outrunning another. We finally arrived in Olympia on the 27th.
After many years ministering in the mission field, our family needs a time to rest and prepare for transitions with Caleb and Jaden, our two oldest boys. We are also looking forward to reconnecting and fellowshipping with family, friends, and church family as we look forward to what God has for us in the future.
We are currently staying with Deana’s parents in East Olympia. Jaden is grinding away at school at Northwest Christian High School. It’s been a quite a transition for him to go from 10 years of homeschooling to now attending classes daily in a school setting. He’s done well adjusting, though. The two younger boys, Kylan and Chase are attending the Classical Conversations homeschool and are a part of the Southeast Olympia community. They really enjoy going to class on Wednesdays and love making some new friends.
Deana, as usual, is busy with homeschooling the boys during the day and helping Jaden in the evening. Sometimes it seems like life just revolves around school. As for me, Patrick, after spending the first week getting our family somewhat settled in I was then off to Goldendale, WA to see my mom. She has had some health setbacks this year and I’m now looking to help her relocate to the Olympia area. She put her home on the market and within 3 days she had an offer. She’s now waiting for final inspections to close the sale. I’ve been considering some 55+ mobile homes estates in the Tumwater, Olympia, Lacey area. After spending a few days with mom, I returned to Olympia and started working full time for Mike Stuart Construction. It’s been a huge blessing and answer to prayer to be able to work and take care of all the kids educational expenses. I also want to say a big ‘thank you’ to our church family and the leadership of Calvary Olympia. You generously helped purchase some much needed construction tools to get me started at my new job. Thank you for blessing our family in this way. Although I am busy working, I’m also missing ministry and want you to know that I’m available to serve or teach at any home Bible studies, youth group gatherings, or other venues as the Lord leads and open doors.
Caleb, our oldest son, is currently in Montana finishing his Potter’s Field Ignite Missions Program. He returned from Uganda in October and is finishing the final phase of the program which is called re-entry. He’ll be in Olympia on October 28 and spend a couple of weeks with us, and then he’s off to Portland, Oregon for a 2 month internship at Calvary Chapel Southeast Portland. While there he will be working with the children and worship ministry.
Brother Charlie in Belize suffered a mild heart attack on October 17. He’s part of our leadership team in Belize. He is currently in Orlando, FL at the VA hospital undergoing tests and observation.
Housing: we are looking for a reasonable 2-3 bedroom rental home in the Tumwater, Olympia, Lacey area. Deana’s parents’ home is good for transitional housing but not long-term.
Patrick will be returning to Belize for a couple of weeks in December. Pray for safe travel and a time of encouragement for the body at Calvary Cayo.
