…the Lord has continued to be faithful to me, growing me, teaching me, stretching me and refining me. And He is not done yet!– Tanya Mackey, Church Secretary
How would you describe CCO’s “church culture” to others? Calvary’s mission statement is “Loving Jesus, Loving His Word, Loving People, as a way of life.” This truly is the culture at Calvary. The leadership and people of Calvary genuinely love Jesus and His Word. As they grown in their love for Him and His Word, it is lived out through their love for people. Calvary loves people through feeding and teaching them both spiritually and practically. It is a blessing to be part of a body that really “gets” what Jesus has called us to do.
How did you become a Christian? I grew up in a Christian home. My parents took my brother and me to church, sent us to a Christian school, read Bible books to us, prayed with us and were good Christian examples. I accepted Jesus as my savior when I was four of five. In junior high, I really began to seek the Lord on my own and my relationship with Jesus became personal. I went to youth group (by my own choice), read my Bible and tried to serve the Lord. My family went through some extremely difficult times when I was a sophomore and junior in high school and I know that I could not have made it without my relationship with Jesus. When the storms of life seemed ready to overtake me, Jesus was there bringing me a peace and calm in the midst of the storm (Matthew 8:23-27). Since then, the Lord has continued to be faithful to me, growing me, teaching me, stretching me and refining me. And He is not done yet!
What is your goal in your position as secretary? My goal is to show the love of Christ to each person I encounter, either on the phone or in person. I also desire to help and serve the pastors and staff here at Calvary, enabling them to serve and minister as the Lord has called each one of them.
What else can you tell us about yourself? I’ve taught and led worship in a women’s bible study. My husband and I currently lead a Life Group in our home. My hobbies include going on dates with my husband (that can be a hobby, right?), playing with my kids, spending time with friends and family, reading, playing games, gardening, hiking, camping, experimenting with baking, cooking, and learning about health and nutrition.
